1st Destination : BOH Tea Plantation
BOH Plantations was founded in 1929 by J.A. Russel, a British businessman during the British colonial era in Malaya. He was optimistic of the tea plantation business due to huge demands despite of the world-wide Great Depression at that time. As a result of the potential, he applied for and was granted a concession of land for his first tea garden in Habu, Cameron Highlands.
Today, BOH Plantations owns three tea gardens – the first garden in Habu, Fairlie Tea Garden and Sungai Palas Tea Garden. To ensure the freshness of its tea products, BOH Plantations also set up a packaging factory near its main garden. BOH tea products are distributed both in domestic and international markets.
2nd Destination : Butterfly Farm
Butterfly Garden is a live insect gallery and zoological garden located at Kea Farm, nestled along the main road 3 km after Brinchang town or 5 km from Tanah Rata (just down the road from Copthorne Hotel). One of Cameron Highland’s oldest tourist attractions, Butterfly Garden features a large enclosure erected along a hill slope, with a walk that leads past free flying butterflies and colorful live insects displayed in aquariums, including beetles, mantis and phasmids of different shapes and sizes. The park also has a tortoise pen, scorpion pond, reptile exhibit (mostly snakes and lizards), aviary and small petting zoo.
3rd Destination : Strawberry Farm Cameron Highlands
Cameron Highlands is the center of strawberry production in Malaysia – along with tea plantations and vegetable markets, strawberries are an iconic part of the landscape comprising this resort destination. The cold climate makes it suitable for cultivating strawberries all year round throughout the highlands, with most farms concentrated at Tanah Rata, Brinchang and Kea Farm. When in season, many of these farms offer strawberry picking by hand to attract visitors. The popularity of this dainty fruit has also spun a bustling cottage industry that churns out souvenirs, pillows, clothing, key chains, toys and other merchandise in the shape and theme of strawberries.
4th Destination : Rose Garden
Rose Center is a flower garden at Kea Farm, located off the main road about 3.5km away from Brinchang town. Visitors can reach this tourist attraction by following the road that leads through Kea Farm Market until Rose Center appears at right side of the road. Walking up the steps, visitors will pass through verdant gardens perched on slopes along the small hill. Near the top, another pathway leads to a peak with views of the surrounding landscapes and vegetable farms. The Rose Center also retails baby plants, cactus and gardening materials at a small shop near the ticket counter.
